Iconic Carmel restaurant Forge in the Forest to close after 50 years

Forge in the Forest, a beloved Carmel restaurant will close its doors by February 7 after more than 50 years in business due to a lease non-renewal.Today they released a statement to KSBW saying in part that their landlord will not be renewing their lease and they will have to close. The restaurant, located on Junipero, has had several owners over the years, with Greg and Carolyn Profeta running it for the last 15 years.The couple went on to say they were devastated by the closure, especially for their employees and customers.Forge has been more than a restaurant; it has been, for them, a second home, for their customers, a gathering space and place where memories are made. Today they released a statement to KSBW saying in part that their landlord will not be renewing their lease and they will have to close.

The restaurant, located on Junipero, has had several owners over the years, with Greg and Carolyn Profeta running it for the last 15 years.

Forge has been more than a restaurant; it has been, for them, a second home, for their customers, a gathering space and place where memories are made.
