Former White House aide Brooke Rollins will appear before the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee Thursday for her Senate confirmation hearing.
Rollins is President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Agriculture Department. She also served as the White House Domestic Policy Council director during Trump’s first administration.
The agriculture chief oversees a sprawling agency that controls policies, regulations and aid programs related to farming, forestry, ranching, food quality and nutrition.
It is reported she will be asked about two of Trump’s key policies — tariffs and cracking down on illegal immigration and how they could affect the agricultural sector.
“Brooke’s commitment to support the American Farmer, defense of American Food Self-Sufficiency, and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns is second to none,” Trump said in a statement when he announced the pick.
Rollins is also the CEO of the America First Policy Institute which has close ties to Trump’s transition team.
