Sen. Ricketts discusses farm bill outlook
A U.S. Senator from Nebraska says farm bill work could get pushed back until after the summer.
Republican Pete Ricketts tells Brownfield the current focus is on the reconciliation process.
“The timing is probably going to be – budget reconciliation in the best-case scenario would get done in July but it may roll over into the fall months. That could impact the schedule for the farm bill.”
He says lawmakers are working through the framework of a budget reconciliation package.
“I would expect that we’ll probably get some things done through reconciliation and some things done through the farm bill. I don’t know what that will involve right now.”
The latest farm bill extension expires at the end of September.
